ISLE MADAME ATV RIDER’S ASSOCIATION

PRESIDENT’S REPORT

JANUARY 20, 2010

Being your President for the past 12 – 13 years, I must say it gives me great pleasure to say that our club is back and even stronger in membership than it was many years ago. I believe that all the fantastic work that has been done on the trails is an asset, but I also believe that with the help of AVANS and the Department of Natural Resources working together to make sure that people who are using the trails do have a Trail Pass in their possession or a copy of the Land Owners Permission to pass on their property has something to say about the increase in membership.

Phase 111 of this year’s trail improvement project is near completion. We need to recognize our funding partners being, Off Highway Vehicles, Health & Promotions, Nova Scotia Trail Federation, ECBC, Nova Scotia Power, St. Joseph’s Credit Union, and the Municipality and Councilors of Richmond County. By recognizing our funding partners, I thought it would be a good idea to hold that event during or before our next Annual Poker Rally that will be held on February 20, 2010, whereas at this rally we usually have a good attendance and it would give our club and our partner funders good publicity with the media being present.  The final decision of this event will be entirely up to the membership.

This year we have spent approximately $175,897.57 on improvements and restructuring of our trails.

Clarence Landry Chairman of the Trail Improvement Committee and his committee was an asset in implementing that this work got done. And I want to say thank you Clarence for a job well done. I know it was far from an easy task. Finding volunteer in this day an age is not easy. Having a larger amount of members, you would think that things would change, but as we know it doesn’t. Volunteers are very hard to find.

A thank you needs to be extended to Joan at DIMA, for keeping our grant funding records in order and also in making sure that the final reports and all necessary receipts and documents were sent to our funding partners, so that we are now able to obtain our final funding payments.

We are in need of a Trail Improvement Chairman, a Rally and Trail Committee Chairman.

At our last meeting this was put on the table, but to date as far as I know, no one has come forth to take on either of these committees. These are two very important committees that need to be in existence. Your consideration would be greatly appreciated.

To my executive and board, I thank you for any assistance that you have given me.

To the members, your club will and can only be as strong as you the member want it to be.

It is in doing and helping out that things get done.

It is in doing nothing that nothing gets done.

DRIVE SAFE

 Respectfully submitted,

Norma Boudreau, President
