ISLE MADAME ATV RIDER’S ASSOCIATION
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
February 21, 2007
In my eleven years as President of your Association, I feel that we
have come a long way with our trails. From what I can understand from
members and non-members that have been on our trails, that they are
super trails. That makes me feel good, when you think of the funding
and manpower that we have spent on these trails. We are finally getting
to see great results. Yes there are some bridges and other areas that
need repairs, but after eleven years of wear and tear on these bridges
and trails it doesn’t take a scientist to know that some of the work
needs repairing.
I was so glad to hear that the area in front of Paul Theriault’s
property has finally been repaired, as it was ruined, due to ATV’s
crossing there. I had requested this to be done years ago. Thanks guys
for doing it. Now we need to look at repairs by Dr. MacNeil’s and
further down. We do not need to have any eye sores showing what has
been caused by ATV’s, whether it is done by our members or non-members.
In talking with Paul Theriault, he was very pleased to see that we took
the initiative to do the repair to his property. This is good news to
hear about our club.
Our trails have never been so good, and that is because of the hard
work of some of our members. Of course it would be nice to see more
members working on the trails and not just the same few all the time.
We haven’t had good weather to do some of the functions that we did
last year, but the year is not up yet.
I have written a letter to the Honorable Angus MacIsaac Minister of The
Department of Transportation and Public Works on February 7, 2007,
requesting information on the placement of signage on Highway 206 and
320 of ATV’s crossing, such as they have in Antigonish and other areas.
I am awaiting a reply from him.
I have received an e mail from Clarence Landry who would be interested
in working on developing a Planning and Development Committee, now that
he is retired and has the time to do so. I feel that this committee
would be an asset to our Association.
At this time I would like to thank my Secretary Shelley Short for all
that she has done to make life easier for me and also to my Treasurer
Andrea Boudreau, who doing a great job in keeping the books straight,
and the membership list accurate.
Also I would like to thank Gordie Short Chairman of the Trail and Rally
Committee and also his committee for a tremendous job that they have
done on the trails and also the rallies. Volunteers such as you guys
should never go unrecognized.
I would also like to thank anyone and you know who you are that has
helped to make our club what it is. At this time I would like to say
that we do need to have a membership drive. I can’t remember when it
was that our membership total was so low.
As for cutting back on having functions for our members. I feel that at
least when the weather was good; we had some good turn outs at these
functions especially the family gatherings. We have no control over the
weather. My feeling is that these functions should still be had. If the
members feel that $5.00 per member is to low to hold these types of
functions, then maybe you should increase your dues another $5.00 and
keep our members together with these functions instead of going back
where we were at a few years ago, of just saying Hi as you went by.
Remember, your club will only be as good and as strong as you the members want it to be.
Drive safe.
Respectfully submitted,
Norma Boudreau, President
